Father’s Day

Square

Yesterday was Father’s Day. That picture on the left is my dad with my baby bro when Kyle was only a week old. Awwwwww. I know.

So, my mom is still laid up a bit from her surgery, although she’s getting around remarkably well- she still can’t leave the house or anything – and my dad had to fly to Cali or somewhere on business around 11:00 a.m. (I can never keep track of where he is…). Given those constraints, we decided the best way to celebrate would be for Mark and I to head over there and cook up some breakfast. Cuz you know how we love breakfast.

And that’s exactly what we did. But! Mark was busy cooking 20 lbs of bacon, so he didn’t get to take as many pics as he normally would. And it’s nearly impossible to take pictures of my parents, anyhow, so we didn’t even try. (Hence the photo from 1989!)

Mmm, I made grits and french toast and Mark whipped up some scrambled eggs and the aforementioned 20 lbs of bacon (blehhhh.) Then Mark hooked up the new DVD/VCR Dad got (their old one has been broken since December or so!), and he also fixed their wireless router so that my parents’ house can join the rest of us in the 21st century and experience the joys of WiFi. After a week of not being on the computer, my mom was pretty excited to finally have internet access from her living room.

Next mission- get them some Caller ID already. Sheesh.

Afterwards, we headed over to the cemetery with my brother to put some pretty hydrangeas on my grandfather’s grave and to wish Pop a happy father’s day, too.

I hope all the fathers (and soon-to-be fathers! Yes, that means you, Chris!) had a great day.

I also made some amazingly awesome cookies yesterday. These cookies are so good that I really can’t be modest about them. They blew Friday’s batch of cookies outta the water. Then our friends Rick and Amanda came over and we had ourselves a little Wii party! But Mark hasn’t uploaded those photos yet, so I will wait and let him post about our evening.

Toodles!
