There’s this idea that you want to find “the right” photographer for your wedding day. It sounds good – but what does that actually even mean? Someone who’s good? or fine? or talented? or… someone who’s just the right price? Honestly there are PLENTY of photographers are tremendously talented and that make amazing photos. It’s increasingly more difficult to find truly bad professional wedding photographers these days. The talent level across the board has increased greatly from what it was 10 years ago when I started out.
So what else? What else makes “the right” photographer for your wedding day? It really comes down to finding the photographer that you’d like to hangout with for 6 to 8 to 10 hours on the day that you’re getting married. That’s it. All the other things are great to have (talent, good photos, proper business etiquette) but finding someone that you want there with your at your wedding (other than your partner and guests) should really be the final factor in deciding WHO your photographer will be.
Maybe you don’t want this person to be your best friend. That’s fine. Maybe instead you’d like to have absolute confidence that your photographer will TAKE CARE OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY. How about that? Not only the photography – but you and your partner. Because being photographed can be awkward as heck and a great photographer can take all that awkwardness away. They can make it enjoyable even. It’s trueeeeee. I promise.
That’s it. That’s all. The Right Photographer for you is the one that makes you feel good, feel like they’ll do the job the way you want – and that you connect with on a level that even you may not understand. Sure you can go with the right price photographer – but that’s not The Right Photographer for you. Well. Sometimes it is.
