Internship: A Review

Edit-2

Happy New Year!! CAUTION: This will be the longest post. Ever. So, I realize that I am two months behind in posting this, but better late than never! It’s time for review. I’m going to break down my actual experience as an intern first, and then go over what I learned. Side note: If you are an intern considering this internship, this blog is mostly for you. Let’s jump right in. When I signed up for the internship, I must admit I kind of had …read more

Blood Brothers

Slasher-27

Ok. So Mark set up a bloody stylized wedding. (Haha, sounds like I’m speaking British!)  I think  there were a few concerns at first about why he would be staging a bloody wedding. It’s because he’s awesome. Bloody awesome.        Everything was pretty much like any other wedding. Except the bride and the groom were stabbed in the middle of the ceremony. But don’t worry! It wasn’t violent, it was a happy stabbing! No really! You’ll see. They wake up later and there’s …read more

Pretty People

Goat Farm-5

So I recently had the pleasure of working with +Raven on an engagement shoot with two VERY attractive people, Nate and Theresa. They are A-DOR-ABLE! I feel like I say it a lot, but working with people who are in love is one of the best things in the world. And BONUS, Theresa looked like she stepped out of an Anthropologie ad and Nate seemed to know everything there was to know about every plant, weed, and prickly bush around us! I …read more

Epic Goats

Goat Farm-8

So two weeks ago I had the pleasure of tagging along with +Raven, Jo, and Sooji to an epic shoot at the Goat Farm in Atlanta. It was AWESOME. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay for 30minutes (boo), but even in that short time frame, I was transfixed with all of these characters and the entire feel of this shoot. Now, based on those images, what do YOU think we were shooting? A game of huntress hide and seek? A reenactment of some magical land …read more

I finally got to shoot with +Raven last week and it was awesome! Jen and I met her at the Athens Botanical Gardens to shoot a couples shoot. To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure how this was going to go. I didn’t know if these were just friends of +Raven or if they had hired her and thus had to take a moment to get my footing and understand what my role there was. I settled into a second shooter/observer.First of all, the couple was …read more

So it has been two weeks since I’ve gotten to shoot with Season Six and I’ve really missed them! For a while there it seemed like every shoot was on a day/time when I couldn’t be there. Watch for the posts though, because I know they are going to be sawwwweeeett! So I was really excited when I heard that Brittney’s shoot was going to be at a time when I could at least squeeze in for 45 minutes. We met over at Peidmont park and she …read more

Liar, Liar…

The fire shoot was SUPER fun! I mean, how could it not be? We got to play with fire! But before we all tapped into our inner Pyro’s, we shot quite a bit with two stunning and talented models: Daniel and Corinna. I met Daniel on Craigslist (HOORAY! Everyone on there’s is not a creepy-Mc.creeperton!)  And Corinna was brought by Jo and I’d like to think we were separated at birth or that we could at least be BFF’s. They were SPECTACULAR! It’s pretty fun figuring out …read more

So because of my escapade to Destin, I wasn’t able to attend one of the shoots set up for season six. BUT I had the pleasure of shooting Evelyn and Mike’s vow renewal. I have to say, there is something really beautiful about seeing two people professing their love for one another after being together for years. The ceremony was close family only and was relaxed and honest in nature. There was no priest to perform, simply Evelyn and Mike standing in front of people …read more

So I think it’s safe to say that every artist finds themselves uninspired from time to time. Writers, musicians, poets, painters…photographers. Inspiration, for me, doesn’t come from locations, concepts, models etc. For me, it comes from story. Always. I want to know my client’s story before I shoot them because it breathes life that I can’t fake into the pictures. In fact, I typically spend at least a half an hour getting to know my client’s before I ever even pick up the camera. Whether …read more

So it’s been a while since I’ve posted as I was out of town for a bit, but I am so glad to be back! It was refreshing to hang out with Leah and Mark and the most of the Season Six gang! We had a lighting workshop (word!) and I really enjoyed learning more about off camera lighting and the techniques you can use to get the lighting you want. One of the top reasons I took this internship was so that I could …read more

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…

In the dark

LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers

I loved the second photo shoot! It started a *tad* early, but we needed the extra time as we had more involved sets. This time we threw things at the models. Don’t worry, they were really good sports about it. We started with Bella (who was incredible and has me just about convinced that I should shave my head.) The concept was using this shredded paper to make a sort of snow effect. I think the more trying thing about this shoot was that it …read more

A sad tale…

Bear hug!

LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers

          Once upon a time, there was a boy and a bear. She liked his cool glasses, and he dug her sandy hair. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * In the beginning, it didn’t seem like a fit. Like how she DVRed American Idol, which he didn’t like a bit. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Until one fateful day, when Chris …read more
