What an exciting night!
When I first found out that I would be interning with LeahAndMark, I literally jumped up and down for joy, and as the first meeting came closer, I grew even more excited and somewhat nervous too.
I didn’t know what to expect, but I completely trusted that it would be awesome, and it really was.
Just pulling up to the Goat Farm was an experience in itself. The place has so much character. Between the chickens and turkeys roaming around, the paintings on the walls inside and out, and all the hustle and bustle of the artists walking around and working, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Once I was directed in and met Leah, Mark, and the other interns, I felt more at ease. Not too long after we all introduced ourselves, we were able to go out and shoot.
It was fantastic meeting the whole team and it was even more fantastic that we got to know each other by going out to shoot the very first night. The location was really interesting and had a lot to give, and the models were great too. I was no longer nervous by this time, but I still had some trouble directing and posing everyone.
Although I’ve worked in a studio before, it was my first time using off-camera flash outdoors and it’s really cool to see how much of a difference it makes! And it was great working in teams with the other interns because we were able to feed off each other’s energy and help each other out. We all come from different photographic backgrounds and have different levels of knowledge and experiences, so we’re all already learning.
I had a lot of fun working with all the models and I feel like I’ve already learned a lot. I’m looking forward to the next meeting, learning more, and being part of the Season 8 team!
