There is something about sessions with children that make me just. plain. HAPPY.
Meet Addie Anne. 2 years old and talking like she’s 20. We went out to Marietta to a local school campus that’s just absolutely gorgeous. It has a lake and kayaking for P.E. for students. Where was that during my high school experience?? Anyway, Addie, her parents and I just hung out on the campus for a little while.
What I like about taking pictures of kids is that you don’t have to pose a child to get a good shot. They are so beautiful in their natural element. Their interactions are innocent, genuine and pure. As I watched Addie Anne interact with her parents and on her own, she showed me who she was…
She wanted to hand me flowers – a generous spirit.
She sat quietly by the lake looking for fishies – a curious mind.
She “flew” on the swings – an adventurous side.
She thanked me for taking her pictures – a thankful heart.
I like that about kids, you know? What you see is what you get. Sometimes it’s hard getting that type of honesty in a shot, but not for a child. Definitely, not for Addie Anne.
