Friend Cards
Hello! If you are reading this you may be one of the many, many fortunate and lucky people whom we have given one of our famous “Friend Cards!”
We probably met you off hand at the grocery store, or at a friend’s party, or some other one-time chance meeting. After a few words of conversation you were deemed “Cool” and one or both of us (Leah and Mark) decided to take a chance on you! - Which is the whole point of our Friend Cards.
We initially created them to hand out to everyone we met while we were in China this past month of April 2008 - and we handed out a lot of them to both native Chinese, and travelers from around the world - many of whom have returned the favor and have started writing us emails and generally keeping up contact from the other side of the planet.
When we got back to Atlanta, we realized that there were many people that we were running into, but that we honestly would never ever see again. So we started handing out our Friend Cards to people that we would run into here in Atlanta. Basically, the purpose of our Friend Cards is to ‘take a chance’ on new people.
The cards simply have a photo of us on one side (we used photos taken in China for this most recent batch) - and then on the back is our blog address (LeahAndMark.com!) and then our email address (email@LeahAndMark.com!) So there isn’t any personal information and after we give out the card, the next move is on the other person if they want to keep up the acquaintance, or drop it. No pressure, no commitment - but an opening and the possibility of a friendship where otherwise it would have simply ended the moment we left the party, or left the coffee shop. See?
