The Social Goat Wedding Venue Weddings

The Social Goat, Wedding Venue, Atlanta, Grant Park, Small, Affordable, Bed & Breakfast

Social Goat Wedding Venue & Bed and Breakfast. We recently photographed a wedding at the Social Goat Bed & Breakfast and you know what? It was kind of amazing. No really – amazing. And comfortable. And relaxed. And exactly the way the couple wanted their wedding to be. What else is that I had no idea the Social Goat even existed until recently – and I literally lived just around the corner from it. It’s just south of Grant Park (and by just South I don’t mean like the next town south, I mean I think it still counts as being IN the Grant Park neighborhood.)

The Social Goat Atlanta Wedding Venue

Right. The Social Goat is a large house that serves as a bed & breakfast and also has a large ceremony space in the backyard. Perfect for a backyard wedding if you don’t have friends with decent backyards, or you don’t have one of your own. Cool huh?

And it’s just nestled in Grant Park and easy. Oh and plenty of room for you to get ready, and your wedding party to get ready, and your guests to have fun. Oh and not only that – but the grounds are well kept with a bit of quirk and uniqueness – so your photographer will have plenty to work with. And you’ll look amazing in your photos. Trust us. You will!

The great thing about weddings at the Social Goat is that after you’re done – you’re right in the middle of town and can get to… anywhere else you’d like to get to and party, or sleep or…………. ha. Well – hangout with your people. Because it’s your wedding and you CAN do what you want. Whether that’s just relaxing and spending time with the people most important to you – OR going ALL OUT AND DOING THAT PARTY THING.

Hightower Falls Wedding Venue in Cedartown, Ga.

Hightower Falls, Wedding Venue, Atlanta, Wedding Photographer, Ruins, Waterfall, Barn

Hightower Falls Wedding – Hightower Falls is a wedding venue located in Cedartown, Ga. and WOW. It basically has everything you’d ever want from a countryside wedding venue. It’s about an hour away from Atlanta. It has a waterfall. A real waterfall, not just a baby pretend 10 ft trickle of a waterfall. It has a barn (which is kind of required these days for countryside venues right?) It has RUINS. And not just the foundations and some pillars. It has an entire building structure of ruins. (Very stable too so don’t worry.)

What else… oh yeah it also has a few horses and a giant open grassy field and forests and trees. And a decent river creek area. OH and a wooden bridge. So yeah. Hightower Falls is kind of the perfect wedding venue if you’re looking for ANY of those things – or if you just want ALL of them. Because it’s nice to have options right?

One thing you’ll want to make sure you do – is schedule plenty of time for your photography. I’m not just saying that because I’m a wedding photographer – I’m saying that because you have SO MANY different and great backdrops for photos that you’ll want to spend more than 15 minutes on your portrait session. SERIOUSLYYYYYYYY. Look at this place!

Another tip for you and this venue? – Definitely build in plenty of time for your wedding photos. SERIOUSLY. I mean it. You will want to make sure that you have at least 30 minutes or even a whole hour so that you and your photographer can hit up all the good spots for THE BEST photos. You won’t be disappointed. PROMISE.

This is Lauren and Dean. Theirs was the third wedding of a three wedding weekend for us. For me really – because when I book three weddings for three days in a row – I also use a different 2nd shooter for each day. And I know – three weddings in three days is bonkers. I absolutely agree – and I absolutely don’t recommend it for anyone else. While I’m not out right bragging about being so badass that I can shoot three weddings in three days and other people can’t – I’m saying that I’ve done enough of these things that 3 x 3 is relatively, no problem.

A few things to think about as wedding photographer when you’re doing a 3 x 3:

  • Your energy and not being dead halfway thru the 2nd day
    • This is where Coffee and more Coffee is not the answer. Being properly hydrated (with water) IS the answer. More important than even food. Make sure you drink water and stay hydrated for energy.
  • Your team’s energy (2nd/3rd shooters)
    • Just because you can do 3 x 3 doesn’t mean that anyone else can. Plus – SOMEONE should be fully rested ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Having enough clean clothes
    • Look – most wedding photographers shoot 1 wedding 1 weekend. So they have 1 wedding uniform/outfit. Nevermind having 3. Sure you can throw them in the wash but timing can be tricky depending on the schedule of things. Get home at 12/1am and have to be at the next wedding the next morning…
  • Effectively backing up all of your photos
    • It’s tricky – you have to make sure you download all of your cards to a hard drive – and then BACK THOSE UP IMMEDIATELY. You do not want ANY question about whether or not you have backed up the files before you start writing over your cards. So you either have a million SD/CF cards or you double back up your files.
  • Charging your gear batteries
    • In the same way you have to stay hyper paranoid about backing up your photo files – you have to make sure that your camera/flash/gear batteries are charged full and ready at the START of each day. AND bring a charger with you just in case.

But that’s the bulk of it. I mean – Except for you possibly being too tired to function – each wedding is still only ONE wedding. They just happen to be right after each other.

  • Drink water and more water.
  • Back up your photos and back them up again.
  • Charge your gear batteries.

Done. Right? Oh yeah – it helps if you have a ‘work process’.

What’s the saying? Amateurs rely on inspiration – professionals get to work. I don’t and can’t rely on being ‘inspired’ every time I go to work. So I had to come up with a process that enables me to deliver a certain level of F*cken amazing in my sleep, without much effort. That removes the pressure to feel ‘inspired’ and frees me up to go make bags of NEW F*cken Amazing to deliver to my wedding couples.

Because they’re not all going to be one of my  best days – that’s reserved for the couple getting married – I just have to make sure I always deliver the agreed upon Awesome.
