Back on a cold, rainy day in February the Season [X] interns had a group shoot at the Southeastern Railway Museum. As we all paid our entrance the employees were handing us flyers and things that I shoved into my pockets. We did our shoot and went on about our lives.
A couple days later as I cleaned my camera bag I found the papers they had handed us: PHOTO COMPETITION. Yes! If there is one thing I like it’s some good healthy (sometimes not so healthy) competition! I wrote my weekly Monday blog and picked my best images from the shoot. I got them printed and matted (on white mats I might like to add). Paid my entry fee and waited.
The photos I submitted:
Fast forward to April. Sunday, April 7th to be exact. Awards ceremony day! There were 40 photos submitted. 6 awards to be given.
I took overall second place!
YAY! It has been 6 years since I entered a competition or put my photos on display like this. I need to get back to doing this. Regularly. We at LeahandMark & Co always talk about putting your work out there. What better way than to enter a competition?! You have no name. You don’t know the judges. You place on work alone.
Thank you to everyone who liked the photos on facebook and supported me/modeled for me.

Last Saturday Leah & the Intern Army spent the day at Wedding Day Hooray! (The ONLY Bridal show worth attending.)
Wedding Day Hooray is one of the main sponsors of our WOW Wedding Giveaway (Vote NOW!) and also partnered up with us when we hosted author Meg Keene during her book tour here in Atlanta (A Practical Wedding!)
And well… if you’ve kept up with us over the past few years – then you know that we literally ALWAYS have our photobooth running at both the Indie Craft Experience and Wedding Day Hooray.
So hey – check out the photobooth shots today & tomorrow (or later this week more likely) we’ll have the official event photos posted!

When I first got in contact with Jen & Russ, and she told me about their upcoming Ocala, Florida backyard-farm-DIY-tea-length-zoot-suit wedding with a bourbon bar, alcoholic cupcakes, and s’mores pit, I was beyond psyched.
And I wasn’t disappointed.
You may remember Jennifer & Russell from their engagement session we did in Little Five recently. They were just as awesome at their wedding. ð
Jennifer had been collecting glass from absolutely everywhere, building up what would become the table centerpieces and a large part of the decor for the wedding.
She painted the invitations. Each set of parents walked one of the couple’s dogs down the aisle.
Her dress was an ombre tea-length custom-designed number, and his suit was a custom made authentic 40’s zoot suit. Dad even wore a 40’s political pin.
We played with her childhood horse, she wore a necklace her mother made her, SHE MADE THE BOUQUETS AND BOUTONNIERE from felt.
Guys, it was awesome.
Jennifer and Russell, you’re awesome.
Thank you so much for having us. ð
