Connor & Danny | By Intern Ellie

A week after my first wedding I was shooting my second. My coffee consumption had increased and Iíd worked through most of the disappointment with my photos from Jenn and Chrisí Wedding. My disappointment had certainly lingered for a few days, it wasnít because my photos were dreadful. They were okay. But they werenít what I had wanted to create, I hadnít met my own, albeit ridiculously high, expectations of hitting my first Wedding out of the park and creating excellence. I may be, at times, a little bit of a perfectionist and I needed to let that go.

It was four days before I looked at the photos, with every single one; my exposure was off. Completely off. My ISO wasnít high enough and I wasnít compensating for that. Itís one of those situations where I could go back and question my motives; why not, what if etc. But thatís how learning works, sometimes you have to learn through things not working out at all and trying again. And again. And again. Luckily for me Connor and Dannyís wedding gave me that another chance.

The overall outline of the day was similar; hair and make-up, getting dressed, portraits, ceremony, party. Ish. Knowing this basic outline meant that I could almost keep up; I could concentrate more on making better shots because I knew sort of what to expect next. My shots are definitely better and Iím pleased. I still have a long way to go but the difference between my first and second Weddings is like night and day.
