If you’re in the market for a wedding photographer (or you’ve already hired one) – then you’ve probably noticed that there are A LOT OF US OUT THERE. Not only that – but there are way too many incredibly talented and truly amazing shooters, all of them wanting your business. Beyond the awesome photos, beyond the great personalities – there are probably a few things that you don’t really know about wedding photographers, and possibly about your wedding photographer in particular. So we’re here to let you in on a few things you may not know.

1. You Wedding Photographer can do anything.

In fact – they will DO Anything – as long as you tell them that it’ll be a really cool shot (and they agree) – or if you just tell them that it’s impossible. IMPOSSIBLE! Reverse psychology works too well on us. Tell us we can’t do something and we’ll do our best to prove you wrong. It’s not that we have a need to win – we just need to show off – especially photographically. So hey – having a beach wedding? You know what the ‘impossible’ shot is? The one that requires the photographer to get waist deep IN THE WATER. On your wedding day. With no change of clothes.

2. Your Wedding Photographer doesn’t need to feel inspired.

When you hire a Professional Wedding Photographer – you’re hiring someone who essentially says “F*ck being inspired”. Because while other people wait to feel inspired – professionals get to work. And that’s what we do on your wedding day. We work.  All of those artistic and beautiful photos are a product of us working and not from us feeling inspired. We don’t depend on inspiration because inspiration isn’t dependable.

3. Your Wedding Photographer knows that you’re the boss.

The only people with ultimate authority over everything during your wedding are you and your partner. You two are the boss. Not your mom, not your aunt, no one else other than the two people getting married. While they will field requests and pretend to listen to suggestions from anyone else – in the end, your wedding photographer only listens to the choices and decisions you make. Of course a part of our job is to make everyone happy – but not at the cost of your own happiness on your wedding day! Which leads us to number 4…

4. Your Wedding Photographer takes care of you.

Our job is to make sure that you look good in your wedding photos (sure along with all of that other flowery stuff like being your friend, capturing emotion, connecting, telling your story, blah blah blah). The easiest way to make sure you look good in your photos is to simply make sure you have a good time. Which includes doing everything we can to make things easier. To fill in the gaps. To make suggestions. To fix things.

Most importantly – when you’re with us – we don’t want you having to really think about anything in terms of your photos. You hired us to do a job. We call ourselves Professional Wedding Photographers – so we should know how to handle anything that comes up. Or at the very least – we should pretend. Because honestly – we’re the ones who attend 30 weddings a year and we should know what should go on, what can go on, and then if you need help – we can give you a few choices and/or suggestions.
PLUS. Wedding photographers are very protective of their clients. We’re not going to let anything ruin your day. Because that would mess up our photos 😉
