Since our last wedding was this past Saturday, I’ve a little bit of time to catch up with all of the editing. We had a wedding practically every weekend from the beginning of August until last weekend, and along with the interns, family portraits and well, BabyRoX – finding time to edit has been a struggle. Of course that’s just an excuse. Suck it up sucker. It’s MY JOB.
Lindsay emailed me a few months ago about her small wedding in a secluded area of the North Georgia woods. She found us through Offbeat Bride and even though she and Chance live in Mississippi, they were coming to Georgia and having a small wedding. Now – honestly lots of people tell us they’re having a ‘small wedding’ – but this was the smallest so far – eight people and that includes the bride & groom.
Even better – the directions to the cabin was exactly this:
- Drive to Mile Marker 18
- Take the first left
- Take the dirt road across the railroad tracks
- Slowly drive .09 miles up the mountain
- Turn right at the 4.5th mailbox
- Follow the dirt road until you see the cabin on the right – if you fall off the mountain then you’ve gone too far.
When there are only six people invited to a wedding, and you’re one of the lucky people there to witness the event, it’s quite a special thing. Lindsay emailed me, kindly asked for a discount, said their wedding was going to be in the woods somewhere and that it’d just be her and a few family members. Beyond that they didn’t know much else at the time. They didn’t know that they would have the ceremony on an ISLAND. They didn’t know that the leaves and trees would be perfect – and they didn’t know that it would storm so hard the night before that the mere fact that it was a perfect day was a relative miracle.
But that’s how these things work out. Everything comes together, whether you plan it, or don’t plan it – and whether you hire a photographer or not. Of course Lindsay & Chance’s wedding would’ve been perfect with or without me (obviously) – but I’m grateful that they did invite me to be there. Because damn – it was beautiful, they’re beautiful, and I’m completely honored to have been there.
Lindsay & Chance – You. Are. Awesome.
