We’re neck deep in our Fall Wedding Season – which actually started at the beginning of August, but since then we’ve photographed weddings in California, Maine, New York, Miami, North Carolina and New Jersey – oh and even a few here in Atlanta, Georgia as well.

Check out our Mention on DAILY CANDY Today!

With Halloween coming up in a few weeks – we felt like making something a little different. We knew that we wanted to do another styled wedding shoot – but we didn’t want it to be just another pretty bride + flowers + vintage stuff + field. Of course – since Zombies are really big right now – we didn’t want to do that either. So we settled on Blood.

Of course – we didn’t just want a few stylistic drops. We wanted buckets. We wanted it to be messy. But not violent. We worked really hard to make these photos not feel violent. Because weddings aren’t about violence – and just because you have a blood theme, it doesn’t mean that you should show or even imply violence.

We decided that Blood was just a theme like any other. It could’ve been Star Wars or Steampunk or Zombie – except we decided on plain and simple Blood.

Something changed along the way as we started planning this shoot. With so much of the red stuff, we decided to stage a mock ‘wedding’. We needed actors, and a space. Well, a new space since we were kicked out of our first one – but that’s understandable, people don’t always understand everything we do, and the idea of so much blood without violence is sometimes hard to comprehend at first. So we ended up at the Atlanta Goat Farm!

And in fact – we didn’t really lock in the space until a few days before the shoot – after we had lined up roughly 20 actors. It’s a good thing our friends have even better friends.

Oh yeah. With so much work put into the whole thing – we made the decision to ‘film’ the whole thing and make a short wedding video… which is still in post production – but below are a few video stills.

If you’ve been following us for a while – then you know that everything we do is practice – it’s practice for some unknown shoot in the future. Of course I’m not saying that we’ll ever have a real blood themed wedding – but there were a few new things about this shoot that were new to us. This was the largest production we’ve done so far for a photoshoot. New location found at the last minute, 20 actors, lots of blood, hair and makeup artists, and then working in a really, really compressed timeline. We’re taking our time but we’re working on bigger and bigger projects.

We hope to finish editing the film before Halloween.

We have a lot of things going on right now. We’re finishing up the Season SiX of the Internship, I’m flying out to San Francisco this weekend for an engagement session, and then Michigan next week for a wedding, and then a few more weddings back here in Georgia – OH – and we’re having a baby in November. You ready? Yeah. Me too. Let’s. GO.
