Beth + Wade | Maine Wedding Preview

Square

– Posted by Mark

It’s late as I write this. I just got back today from a long wedding weekend in Miami, Florida – and I realized that I hadn’t properly posted a proper preview of this wedding that took place in the small town of Bethel, Maine a few weeks ago. In fact – we have a good bit of catching up to do. So today we have this Maine wedding. Tomorrow we’ll post a wedding that took place on a horse farm in North Carolina – and then on Wednesday we’ll post this past weekend’s wedding in Miami.

Now if it sounds like we’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately – that’s because we have been traveling a lot lately – and it’s been AWESOME. We use that word a lot around here because it’s the appropriate word to use.

After a bit of a shooting spree in the spring and early summer, we had a break for a few weeks from wedding – but now we’re deep in our fall wedding season. California to New York to Maine to North Carolina to Florida to New Jersey to Michigan – and a few weddings in our home state of Georgia too!

Beth and Wade? Like many couples they took a chance and hired us without ever meeting in person. Sure we had a phone conversation or two and we emailed back and forth quite a bit – but I didn’t get a chance to actually meet them in person until the day before their wedding when Alumni Intern Jenna and I arrived on their farm. They were busy working on getting everything ready for that evening’s ‘rehearsal dinner’ (which included the building of a baby grand piano in the middle of dinner – just wait, the rehearsal dinner photos will get it’s own post.)

I’ll tell you flat out – this wedding was tiring. Not just because of the usual reasons – but because it was a FULL DAY of events. After a long night of piano-bar group singing at the rehearsal dinner, they hosted a 4.4k run through the woods on their property! And I mean a real race – with signup sheets, numbers to wear, and official timers at the finish line taking down final times and race order.

And of course – you KNOW that I can’t just stay in one place – so I was running back and forth between two extreme ends so that I could catch people at different segments along the race. Jenna took a different set of points and yeah – we were kind of all over the place. But I mean come on – how often am I going to be photographing a race through the woods as part of someone’s wedding day? Sure you can tell yourself that you’re there mainly for the wedding – or you can decide that you’re there in town to photograph EVERYTHING YOU CAN. Because it’s your job. Well – it’s MY Job.

AND THEN?! And then after the race, everyone went down to a big pond and went swimming! Now – if you know me – I’m definitely not afraid to get IN THE WATER. We’ve been doing river photoshoots all summer with the Interns – so there was no way I was going to just stand on the shore while everyone else was swimming. And no – we don’t have a waterproof housing for our cameras – we just get in, keep our cameras out of the water, and get our shots.

And then at some point, the ‘normal’ wedding day stuff started happening – but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t Full. of. Awesome.
