Mark and I celebrate our 1st year of marriage this weekend.  I can’t believe it’s been a year already – and so much has happened!  The rest of this post is for Mark, but for those of you who just want to see our awesome wedding photos (shout out to Jason Spruill!), you can check out the slideshow here.

Mark!  I never thought I would find someone as crazy and excited about life as yours truly.  I also never thought I would call anyone Babe.  Ever.  But love does funny things to a person.  And I’m highly susceptible to adopting other people’s lingo. When I found you on Match.com, I thought you were cute. I didn’t know you were also insanely awesome… but I think I had a hunch.

I have big dreams and high expectations… and enough energy for three people.  While that makes me an exciting person to talk to at a party, it doesn’t make me someone who is easy to live with.  But you stood up to the challenge.   More than that, you loved the challenge.  And you loved me – not just in spite of, but because of my relentless passion for living life to its fullest and giving back as much as I possibly can. And although your neverending quest to give me, you, our friends and family, and our future children the middle name “Rox” exasperates me to no end, I would not trade a life with you for a Rox-free existence.  (No, this does not mean you can name our children that.)

I love our crazy/busy/love-filled life.  I love you for believing in us and in our dreams, and for not allowing doubts and worries and naysayers to stop us from living the most awesome life imaginable.  I love you for doing the laundry and fixing me coffee in the morning when I’m too bleary-eyed to function.  I love you for being ridiculously talented, artistic, and hard-working.  I love you, I love you, I love you.

This marriage has made us both stronger – individually and together.  Our lives are more amazing now than ever before.  I have not lived up to my vows every moment of this past year, but I promise to try harder until not a day goes by that I treat you with all the love, respect, and appreciation you deserve.

In you I have found my true partner. You’re smart and sweet and funny and kind. From the day we met, I was touched by your remarkable generosity of spirit. You welcomed me into your world, and enthusiastically became a part of mine. Our lives are intertwined in such a wonderfully natural way and I look forward to all the adventures we are going to have together.

I am continually amazed at our good fortune in having discovered one another. And I promise to hold onto that sense of amazement throughout our lives.  I will always appreciate your creative spirit, your penchant for the scenic route, and your excitement for the plans we’ve made and will continue to make in the days and years ahead.

I promise you a home filled with laughter, learning, and love. I promise to be your loving companion through all of our travels together.  I will give you the best of myself. Through sadness and celebration, in difficulty and ease, I will stand by your side.  From this day forward, I am honored to be your wife.
