Seeing this shoot done with previous interns is actually how I found about about Leah and Mark and their internship program, so I was super excited to get to do it myself! I brought along the lovely Devyn again as well as my younger sister Cassy! I couldn’t have been more proud of the two of them! They really rocked it out and I got some beautiful shots of the both of them while having fun doing it. I’ve shot both of them before and …read more

My First Wedding Behind the Camera
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
So Raven was nice enough to take Kelly and I under her wing again and let us join her in shooting a wedding in (can you believe it!) my hometown of Lawrenceville at Little Gardens. Everyone had to drive to ME for once… loved it. But that’s beside the point. For me, this experience was all about learning the process of what goes into shooting a wedding. I really enjoyed the way the day went. We started off at the bride’s house shooting her getting …read more
Finally MY River Shoot!
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
So it took me forever but I finally made it up to the river and I am so glad I did! This shoot made me feel so good about my work. I think we got some really beautiful images. I’d looked through everyone else’s river shoots before coming to the site to kind of get an idea of what I would be dealing with… but I was still completely unprepared. The water levels were different, I definitely needed better shoes, and I ended up getting …read more
Dahlonega Mine Shoot
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
Okay, can I just say SO COOL! I LOVE BEING IN THIS INTERNSHIP! When else would I get to shoot down in a MINE. It was such a beautiful setting and nothing I would have ever thought of on my own for an engagement session. I think that is the thing I’m loving most about this internship, my list of great places to shoot grows every single day. I have gotten to see and found so many awesome places to shoot that I did not …read more
AIA Fashion Show
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
Well, this one was definitely a learning experience. I joined Mark and the other interns to shoot a fashion show held by the students of the Art Institute of Atlanta and while at the shoot a learned a whoooole lot about lighting… the frustrating way of course. There was a lot of trial and error…but since the show was only about 20 minutes long, I’ll be honest and say it was mostly just error. Until this internship I had either just avoided flashes all together …read more
Kelley’s Shoot Continued
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
So this shoot happened the same day (only minutes after) the shoot from my previous post but it was such a completely different experience I decided it needed its own post. After I had has a good hour of instruction with Raven, she and Jina both had to go to work but I wasn’t ready to turn in yet so Kelley stayed and let me take some more photos of her. We decided to sneak into the paintball field nearby because it had been …read more
Portrait Training
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
I really enjoyed this shoot with Raven, Jina, and our lovely model and fellow intern Kelley! This was the first time I had ever used a lighting setup outside and boy did it help! We shot in the middle of the day but were still able to avoid harsh shadows on our model’s body… how nice! The location was a huge open field next to a paintball field with nothing but a single chimney. I wish I would have known it was there sooner! …read more
The “Damn Fantastic Derby Day Explosion”
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
So, saturday I had the pleasure of going on my first shoot with the lovely Laura, and while she kept apologizing for not being a good teacher, I really did learn a lot. We were supposed to be manning a photo booth together for a Kentucky Derby themed event at a bar/restaurant in atlanta called Harper’s Station (really cool, quirky place by the way…you should definitely check it out!) Unfortunately we did not have as much participation in the photo booth as we would …read more
How many interns does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
I was really excited but even more nervous to meet everyone who is a part of Leah and Mark’s crew for the first time. I had a nice two hour drive from Athens to worry about if everyone would like me, what I was going to have to do on my first day, if I was going to look like an idiot, if I had a strong enough skill set to even be a part of this group… my panicking went on and on. All …read more
Pool Shoot
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
This is one of my favorite photos currently in my portfolio. I think what I like about it most is the fact that it is totally a lie. The girl looks so serene and calm, like she is just relaxing in a lake somewhere…In reality, however, this poor girl is freezing to death swimming around in a half filled pool behind my apartment complex in february. She was such a trooper and we got a lot of great shots from the experience…but, it was definitely …read more
Swimming with Mary
LeahAndMark.com | Atlanta Wedding Photographers
I decided to finish up this internship with a shoot I came up with and executed all on my own. I’ve joined in on other interns’ shoots and worked with Mark and Raven and Laura but I felt like I needed to put the culmination of everything I’ve learned here in to one last shoot that was all my own. If you know anything about me you know I am obsessed with water and my life basically revolves around it… competitive swimmer since the age …read more
