Friday Night Late

It’s getting really late here (for us) and I need to hurry up and finish this post (I know it just started.) Installed the firewire card into Leah’s computer a few minutes ago so now we can REALLY start taking the much better quality captures of the video we took over in China and the recent stuff Leah got in Phoenix.

The opening ceremonies for the olympics were on tonight (duh) and we’ll watch it sometime soon probably. Saw bits and pieces and it really just makes me kind of miss the whole thing more. However, the easy (not really easy) remedy to that is to simply get on a plane and go somewhere. Since that’s not happening any time soon, I guess we’ll just plan one for the future. I mean - we waited FOREVER (Leah waiting something like 5 years and I wait… well, 1.5 years) - and the next trip will be our honeymoon.

This is the view from one of the spots in Tiger Leaping Gorge. Just think if I had a better camera instead of my simple point and shoot!

This is what a good portion of the trail looks like. Very narrow, and winding along the side of a mountain with very, very steep drops at times. I can only remember good things about any of this.

So while our next adventure is relatively sooner than later (and there’s so much to get done before then) - just know that it’s not going to be China, but we will definitely aim to get sufficiently lost, away from the tourists, and experience a different trip than most people. I like to think that our trip to China was a bit different, but definitely away from what many of the Olympic visitors will experience - and also very different from what tour groups get to experience (the kind REI and other outdoor operators offer.)

Ummmmm. I typed a great long rest of this entry going on and on about travelers and tourists - but I’m tired - and it just wasn’t any good - and completely redundant.

Good night and a better post will be delivered - tomorrow.
