I can’t stop thinking about China! With the trip super-duper close to being a reality, I’ve been doing research on various hostels in the places we plan on visiting. Now, when I say the word “hostel”, many people conjure up the image of a dingy, dirty dorm room. But there are so many nice hostels out there! With private rooms, and bathrooms! A few friends and family members scoff at this notion. They don’t believe that a hostel could actually be a nice place to stay. They fear we will be kidnapped and tortured, or at the very least infested with lice. Not true, people!
So, here are some pictures of the hostels we plan on staying at. Just to prove to the world that hostel does not equal dirty, smelly, rat hole!

I’m getting attuned to Reiki today. Although I generally have no real comprehension as to the seriousness of what I’m doing, it should be quite interesting. Leah is a Level II reiki practioner and some of the experiences that she has had in relation to reiki and people have been really great.
For those who have no idea on the subject here’s my summary in a nutshell:
Reiki is a form of energy healing where all of the energy and forces of the universe are channeled through the practitioner into the person receiving the energy.
It is also much more than that when you get into the spiritual aspect of it (think in terms of ‘light’) but with me and my logical scientific reasoning perspective… it’s really a form of energy healing. Considering that there are many forms of energy that we did not know existed for a long time (magnetic fields, radiation) I’m sure there are still some out there that we are yet to be able to register on any machines. Given that at some point, all life and matter is a form of energy… transferring energy through us isn’t too far of a leap - especially given the untapped potential of our brains and their role in each of our universes.
So that’s what I’m doing today. Leah is also getting sort of re-attuned. It’s a two day process and we’re going up to her Reiki Master’s home in Cumming, Ga. It’s actually a couple and they’re some of the nicest people you would ever meet - living by that mantra of ‘go with the light’ and other such trains of thought.
It will be interesting to see where this development leads. Especially given my general lack of metaphysical happenings in my life to this point. Whether simply due to my own mental blocks or some other reasons beyond me, I’ve generally been a grounding rod against such forces. What I mean is that, I’ve always had people in my life that would be considered very talented or naturally gifted in areas more metaphysical or naturalistic and paranormal.
I mean serious disruption of electronic devices simply by their presence and other strange happenings that are commonplace whenever they’re around. It’s like I’m Agent Doggett in the X-Files and all these strange paranormal things keep happening to other people around me. That’s the sort of grounding rod I’ve always been.
But I have to admit, I consider myself fortunate to have had these people in my life at regular intervals.
