My Birthday Weekend

Coffee

We woke up on Saturday and hopped into the car. Leah drove and drove and drove and eventually, after passing through small towns and by horse farms on a cloudy day, we arrived in Social Circle, Ga.

It was all a surprise and one of the best since it was a road trip. It’s almost like a tradition now. Birthday roadtrips.

We used to go on roadtrips regularly when we lived in Phoenix. With no trees lining the highway and blocking your views, you could see forever until the horizon ended. Not the case here in the East - and I love Leah for taking me on another road trip so close to our China trip. It’s awesome. She’s awesome.

So the best way to see anything worth seeing during road trips out here, is to get off the main freeways and interstates.

Driving out to the Blue Willow Restaurant & Inn was a pleasant surprise and I had no idea it was coming. A southern breakfast food buffet. Apparently famous by some standards, and well visited. With two charter buses sitting in the parking lot, this was a stop for many tourists and the place is always packed, requiring reservations for anyone planning on dining at this establishment.

The photos from the trip are below. I need to write my Yelp review and post it - probably tomorrow sometime, or the next day since tonight I’ve done nearly nothing. For some reason, I push and go as hard as I can during the week; with work, and writing and doing homework and just generally trying to accomplish everything within a five day span. Weekends? I’m nearly useless lately.

And so. More. Tomorrow. Or later tonight. What I do know is that I’m watching FireFly right now and goddamn. This show is/was good. Better than 98% of all Star Trek TNG episodes. And better than 100% of all original Star Trek episodes.

Favorite FireFly episodes: Out of Gas, and War Stories. Hands down.
